Florian Finishes Lauzon at UFN 13

The Battle for Massachusetts, which for same reason occurred in Colorado, has come and gone, and Kenny “The Fight Finisher” Florian earned the TKO victory over “Creepy” Joe Lauzon at Ultimate Fight Night 13.

The two had an even first round, with a case for either fighter taking it on the scorecards having legitimate ground to stand on. The second round however was all Florian, as he quickly secured the mount on Lauzon and began sending blow after blow down on Lauzon, who, for his part, did an excellent job of shielding most of the blows with his elbows and formidable ears.

Florian was relentless however in his assault, raining down blows while bellowing “I finish fights,” to all who would listen, causing Herb Dean to step in to stop the action.

An excited Florian talked with Joe Rogan following the fight.

“I finish fights,” Florian said of his conditioning.

While Lauzon appeared to handle the thin air poorly, Florian showed no signs of being worn down by the harsh conditions.

“I finish fights,” Florian said, when asked about his future prospects.

The win likely puts Florian high on the list for another potential crack at the Lightweight Title, soon to be fought for by BJ Penn and Sean Sherk. Another potential fight in Florian’s not-too-distant is Roger Huerta.

“I finish fights,” Florian said.

Elsewhere on the card, controversial stoppages were plentiful as both Houston Alexander and Karo Parysian contested their losses after being dropped.

To their credit, both men appeared to be doing an excellent job of employing the Ken Shamrock style of intelligent defense, deflecting the majority of their opponents’ blows flawlessly with their faces.
